A Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for National Planning, Investment and Foreign Economic Relations U Aung Kyaw Hoe attended the sixth Russia-Myanmar Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation meeting and business discussions held in Moscow, the Russian Federation, on 5 October 2026.
The Myanmar delegation, led by the Union minister, and the delegation of the Russian Federation, led by Mr Maxim Reshetnikov, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, who serves as the Co-Chair of the Myanmar-Russia Joint Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation, held a bilateral meeting. Subsequently, the plenary session of the Joint Commission was convened. At the session, the Co-Chairs discussed the cooperation between the two countries in promoting economic and investment development, as well as progress made and plans in the energy, information and communications technology (ICT), education, and health sectors. They also exchanged views on the potential for mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
Furthermore, the record of discussions of the 6th Russia-Myanmar Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation meeting was approved, and bilateral agreements were signed and exchanged with the aim of expanding cooperation in health, education, energy, trade, and investments.
In addition, a Business-to-Business (B2B) Session was held to enable business owners from both nations to discuss economic opportunities and establish business connections.
Moreover, on 4 October 2026, the Myanmar delegation met with representatives from the Roscongress Investment Fund and JSC “CenterInform” to discuss potential for cooperation.
The commission meeting and related meetings were attended by the Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister U Aung Kyaw Hoe, alongside a total of 37 representatives from the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) and various business associations who participated in the B2B session. — MNPIFER
