Authorities stated PDF terrorist groups operating under the NUG and CRPH, with support from ethnic armed organizations, had carried out attacks, forced recruitment, extortion and other acts of violence that disrupted local administration and displaced civilians.
According to the authorities, civilians and some former members of the armed groups provided information on their activities and locations to security forces. Following verification of the intelligence, security forces conducted area-clearance operations and airstrikes against the NUG’s so-called Special Military Command Headquarters near the Bago Region-Mon State border.
Authorities said the strikes killed DCS deserter Nay Win Aung and critically injured or killed other NUG personnel, including DCS deserter Tin Lin Aung and regional commander Aung San Shar. They accused the two deserters of abandoning the state security forces and joining armed groups.
Authorities further said intelligence from residents had contributed to the operation and called on civilians to provide information about armed-group activities. They said security forces would continue counter-terrorism operations to prevent armed groups from establishing bases and disrupting regional stability and development. — MNA/ST
