A Myanmar delegation led by Pyithu Hluttaw Deputy Speaker U Maung Maung Ohn, currently in Russia as international election observers, attended the ceremonies for the announcement of the preliminary results of the election for the ninth State Duma and to review the election by international observers, UEC representatives and parliamentarians yesterday.
Russian Central Election Commission Chairperson Mrs Ella Pamfilova briefed them on election process.
The observers and participants coordinated the discussion.
During the election period, a drone attack occurred, killing two people and injuring 20 others, including Mrs Sanaikhina, the chairperson of Polling Station No 1283. Moreover, the cyberattacks aimed at disrupting voting machines occurred on the first day of voting, while election commission officials and their family members received threatening messages.
A total of 12 political parties contested the 9th State Duma election. United Russia secured the largest vote with 57.79 per cent, followed by the Communist Party with 13.73 per cent.
