UNION Minister for Information U Htein Linn met officials at the Myanma Radio and Television (MRTV) retransmission station in Toungoo yesterday morning, stating that the media sector must actively collaborate to encourage public participation in local development initiatives undertaken by the government to improve people’s socioeconomic lives and meet regional requirements.
Following the meeting, the Union minister provided cash awards and foodstuffs to the staff. He then inspected the installation of the transmission tower and satellite dishes, the generator room, the real-time broadcasting of television and FM channels in the transmitter room, channel quality control measures, and equipment maintenance.
Similarly, the Union minister met personnel from MRTV and the Information and Public Relations Department (IPRD) at the Toungoo District IPRD office, delivering necessary instructions and presenting foodstuffs and cash awards. He subsequently inspected mobile library vehicles, operating records of mobile libraries and three-wheeled vehicle outreach services, book displays, the public library, a mini-museum, a children’s reading room, historic Toungoo photographs spanning over a century, Community Centre operational records, and the computer training room.
In the afternoon, the Union minister visited the MRTV retransmission station in Bago, inspecting tower installations, satellite equipment, and television and FM broadcasting operations. He instructed officials to ensure uninterrupted broadcasting and to provide the public with real-time news and entertainment.
He then met staff from MRTV and IPRD at the Bago Region IPRD office, where he presented cash awards and foodstuffs before touring the wall magazine displays, library, children’s reading room, and mini-museum.
Later in the day, the Union minister observed the recording of ASEAN-related songs promoting regional friendship and cooperation, performed by the National Symphony Orchestra at Studio B of MRTV in Yangon.
