President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing, leading a high-level delegation on an official visit to Viet Nam at the invitation of Vietnamese President Mr To Lam and his spouse, visited Vietnamese automobile manufacturer VinFast and telecommunications group Viettel in Hanoi yesterday afternoon.
The delegation travelled from Hanoi to Hai Phong, observing Viet Nam’s transport infrastructure, land use, agricultural activities and the development of industries linked to agriculture along the route.
At VinFast’s manufacturing facility, the delegation was welcomed by Vingroup Vice-Chairwoman Madam Duong Thi Hoan, VinFast Chairman and CEO Mr Pham Nhat Quan Anh and other officials. The company briefed the delegation on its history, vehicle and motorcycle production, and domestic and international markets.
President U Min Aung Hlaing said he was pleased to learn about VinFast’s development and expressed his intention to explore opportunities for increased economic cooperation between Myanmar and Viet Nam, including potential cooperation with VinFast.
The delegation toured the factory and observed vehicle production processes, including metal forming, body assembly, painting and final assembly, which use automated systems and robotic technology.
The Hai Phong plant, located in Cat Hai, covers more than 500,000 square metres. Construction began in September 2017 and was completed within 21 months, with production starting in June 2019. The facility also includes battery manufacturing operations supporting VinFast’s electric vehicle production.
The delegation later visited Viettel, where it was welcomed by Vietnamese Deputy Defence Minister Sr Lt-Gen Nguyen Quang Ngoc and Viettel Group Chairman and CEO Lt-Gen Tao Duc Thang.
Officials briefed the Myanmar delegation on Viettel’s cooperation with Myanmar through Mytel, including the development of telecommunications networks and broader cooperation between the two countries.
Lt-Gen Tao Duc Thang expressed Viettel’s desire to further expand cooperation with Mytel, particularly in digital technology, digital connectivity and digital transport.
President U Min Aung Hlaing said Myanmar would continue supporting the development of telecommunications networks and encouraged investment in technology-related sectors, including at technology special zones such as Yadanabon Cyber City.
He also called for existing bilateral agreements to be fully implemented and cooperation to be continuously expanded. — MNA/ST
