ONLINE gambling activities are being investigated and action taken against those involved in Yangon Region, with 11 cases uncovered between January and July 2026, according to Yangon Region Security and Border Affairs Minister Col Win Tin.
A total of 29 people – 22 men and seven women – have been prosecuted in connection with these cases.
Authorities are monitoring online gambling activities in Yangon Region and also working with ward and village administrators to gather information, conduct daily monitoring and take action on the ground.
Nationwide, regional and state governments are coordinating to investigate and take action against online fraud and gambling offences as a national responsibility. — ASH/MKKS
