THE Department of Rural Development, under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, conducted a field inspection yesterday to review the completion of a village concrete road construction project in Thayagon Village, Lewe Township.

Lewe District Department of Rural Development Head U Myo Tint, Lewe Township Head U San Yu Hlaing and engineering staff, together with members of the village committee, inspected the completed concrete road measuring 195 feet in length, 10 feet in width and seven inches in thickness. They met village elders and residents, urging them to form a village road committee to maintain and protect the road for long-term sustainability while providing necessary coordination for requests submitted by the villagers.

The concrete road was constructed during the 2026-2027 financial year using K15 million in support funds aided by the Village Development Project (VDP) along with K1.7378 million contributed by residents, who jointly implemented the project under the technical assistance and close supervision of township department staff. Upon completion, the project enables rural residents of Thayagon Village to travel conveniently throughout the year in all seasons. — Cho Than Nyunt (Rural)
