THE Ministry of Construction team won the 2026 Inter-Ministry Futsal Championship, defeating the Ministry of Defence team 4-3 after extra time in the final at the Wunna Theikdhi Sports Complex futsal stadium in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.
The Ministry of Defence took the lead through No 7 Nyein Min Soe in the sixth minute before the Ministry of Construction’s No 7 Tun Aung Kyaw equalized in the 12th minute. Defence regained the lead through No 11 Tut Wai Tun in 18 minutes, but No 11 Naing Tun Lu levelled the score for Construction just before half-time. The two sides continued to exchange goals in the second half and finished 3-3 at full time. The Ministry of Construction then scored the winner in extra time to secure a 4-3 victory and claim the championship title.
At the awards ceremony, Ministry of Defence goalkeeper No 2 Min Khant Aung received the Best Goalkeeper Award and K200,000, while Ministry of Construction’s No 11 Naing Tun Lu was named Player of the Tournament and received K200,000.
The Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement won the Fair Play Award and K500,000. The Ministries of Home Affairs and Finance and Revenue shared third place, receiving K1.5 million each, while the Ministry of Defence received K5 million as runners-up. The champion Ministry of Construction team received medals, K10 million in prize money and the championship trophy.
