Vice-President Nan Ni Ni Aye called for concerted efforts to successfully stage the 27th Traditional Myanmar Cultural Performing Arts Competition, stressing the importance of preserving Myanmar’s traditional cultural heritage, passing it on to younger generations and promoting national culture.
She made the remarks while addressing the first coordination meeting of the Leading Committee on the 27th Traditional Myanmar Cultural Performing Arts Competition, at the Ministry of Hotels, Tourism and Culture in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.
Nan Ni Ni Aye, Patron of the Leading Committee, said Myanmar’s traditional singing, dancing, composing songs and playing music are valuable forms of intangible cultural heritage that reflect the spirit, thoughts, culture and way of life of the Myanmar people.
She said that as technological development and global cultural exchanges continue to accelerate, greater efforts are needed not only to preserve Myanmar’s original cultural heritage but also to encourage younger generations to take an interest in traditional arts and pass them on to future generations.
In this regard, she stated the competition aims to identify new generations of artistes, promote the preservation and development of traditional arts, foster appreciation of national culture and strengthen national capability.
She called for the 27th competition to be organized systematically and to a high standard, building on the positive experiences of previous competitions. She emphasized the need to establish clear and precise competition rules, ensure fair, transparent and professional judging, and accurately assess the abilities of contestants.
The Vice-President also urged all those concerned to cooperate in making the competition a success that reflects national unity, cultural dignity and Myanmar’s artistic traditions.
At the meeting, Union Minister for Hotels, Tourism and Culture U Maung Myint, Chairman of the Leading Committee, reported on arrangements for holding the competition and the presentation of awards, while Deputy Minister U Aye Tun, Secretary of the committee, reported on progress of tasks for organizing the event.
Officials and members of the committee also presented the preparations undertaken in their respective sectors and the work plans to be implemented to ensure the successful organization of the competition.
