MYANMAR deported two Ethiopians, one Liberian, one Burundian, one Ugan­dan and one Togolese, to­talling six individuals, in­volved in telecom fraud and other criminal activities in Kayin State via the Myan­mar-Thailand Friendship Bridge II yesterday.

Myanmar authorities officially handed the depor­tees the necessary legal documents to ensure their smooth repatriation.

Between 30 January 2025 and 11 August 2026, a total of 14,740 illegal im­migrants were identified and detained in Myanmar. Of this number, 13,820 indi­viduals have already been deported through Thailand to their respective coun­tries. Among the remain­ing 920 individuals to be deported, there are 713 who were charged under the Myanmar Immigration (Emergency) Provisions Act section 3 (1)/13(1) and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, and 207 individuals are currently under deten­tion while awaiting repa­triation.

The government is strictly cracking down on online scams and online gambling by cooperat­ing with other countries, including neighbouring countries. — MNA/KTZH
