Myanmar’s National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) and the National Democratic Alliance Army (NDAA) met yesterday morning at the Horizon Lake View Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw to advance political dialogue, border stability, and regional development. The meeting follows an invitation issued by the Central Committee for prerequisite-free peace talks aimed at resolving political issues through political means.
The dialogue was attended by key leadership from both sides, including NSPNC Chairman Lt-Gen Yar Pyae and Secretary Lt-Gen Min Naing, as well as an NDAA delegation led by Chairman U Htein Lin, Vice Chairmen U San Pae and U San Lu, and General Secretary U Kyi Myint.
Opening the session, Lt-Gen Yar Pyae welcomed the NDAA delegation for their second official meeting following an initial round of discussions held in Mongla. He commended the NDAA leadership for continuing the “Peace, Unity, and Development” policy established by former Chairman U Sai Lin, emphasizing that the government aims to elevate the Mongla region through step-by-step coordination within the framework of existing laws.
In response, NDAA Chairman U Htein Lin expressed gratitude for the invitation to Nay Pyi Taw and reiterated his group’s commitment to maintaining peace, fostering mutual trust, and cooperating on border stability. He highlighted the need for guidance and support from national authorities to further develop the region for the benefit of local ethnic communities.
During the meeting, delegates engaged in detailed discussions on local infrastructure and social services. Key focus areas included the repair of the Kengtung-Mongla road, the restoration of regular traffic across the Mongyu-Kengyang bridge, enhanced support for border education and healthcare services, human resources development for medical and teaching staff, and policy support for regional agricultural products.
NSPNC Secretary Lt-Gen Min Naing confirmed that the proposals and trust-building measures discussed during the session would be submitted to higher leadership and coordinated with relevant ministries. The event concluded with both parties signing a formal record of the discussions, exchanging commemorative gifts, and NDAA Chairman U Htein Lin donating flood relief funds for affected communities in Laymyethna Township, Ayeyawady Region.
