The new Dokhtawady Bridge, being constructed at Milepost 358/1 on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway, will be fitted with earthquake-resistant EradiQuake bearings the approach bridge with high damping rubber bearings (HDRB) – the first installation of its kind in Myanmar – and is scheduled for completion before the end of 2026, according to the Ministry of Construction.
The bridge is being built using a steel box girder and prestressed concrete deck system. It has been designed and calculated in compliance with earthquake-resistance standards set out in the Myanmar National Building Code 2025, the ministry said.
