The opening ceremony of the 5th Anniversary International Transport Summit 2026 was held on Monday at the Ballroom of the Carlton Hotel in Moscow, the Russian Federation. During the event, an Application of Transport Cooperation was signed between Moscow and 19 cities from around the world, including Nay Pyi Taw and Yangon of Myanmar.
Representing Nay Pyi Taw, Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council U Kan Myint Than signed the agreement with Mr Maksim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow and Head of the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development, while Yangon Mayor and Yangon City Development Committee Chairman U Myo Myint Aung represented Yangon.
Similarly, transport cooperation agreements were also signed between Moscow and the cities such as Visakhapatnam (India), Accra (Ghana), Ankara (Türkiye), Belo Horizonte, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Goiania, Montes Claros and Porto Alegre (Brazil), Beirut (Lebanon), Belgrade (Serbia), Colombo (Sri Lanka), Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), Managua (Nicaragua), Montevideo (Uruguay), Quito (Ecuador), and Vladivostok (Russian Federation).
The 5th Anniversary International Transport Summit 2026 is being held from 2 to 6 August. At the opening ceremony, welcoming remarks were delivered by Mr Maksim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry, Mr Dmitry Zverev, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation; and Mr Vladimir Efimov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning Policy and Construction.
The summit aims to promote the exchange of advanced expertise in transport modernization and digital innovation among partner cities, develop strategies for cooperation to improve urban transport systems, and enhance the quality of life for urban residents.
The Yangon Region Development Affairs Minister and Yangon City Development Committee Chairman (Mayor), Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee member, and YCDC officials attended the event.
