The Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF) stated that Myanmar’s glutinous rice exports have grown steadily, penetrating Asian and European countries, including China, Belgium, Indonesia, the Netherlands, France, Cyprus, Japan, and India.
Myanmar exported 2,600 tonnes of glutinous rice to China in the first quarter (April to June) in the current financial year 2026-2027, earning US$1.1 million. China purchased over 1.23 million tonnes of glutinous rice worth $394 million in the 2025-2026 FY.
MRF made shipments only after completion of quality, weight, and physical and chemical inspections by internationally recognized third-party inspection agencies. For exports to China, inspections are conducted by CCIC. Additionally, all exports are carried out in accordance with buyer-seller contracts, quality certificates, and the state’s pre-shipment and post-shipment inspection procedures.
MRF will continue to work towards producing and exporting premium quality rice. The federation publishes monthly updates on rice export data. MRF also urges online media outlets to conduct fact-checking to verify information with the authorities concerned before publishing. MRF has clarified that reports circulating on social media claiming that China has blacklisted Myanmar glutinous rice are incorrect.
