THE Department of Rural Development, under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, conducted a field inspection yesterday to review the progress of a drilled tube-well construction project in Panpun Village, Taunggyi Township.

Shan State (South) Department of Rural Development Head U Maung Maung Win, accompanied by the district and township DRD heads and engineering staff, examined the construction of the 400-foot-deep drilled tube-well. He met responsible officials to emphasize the importance of meeting prescribed technical standards for long-term sustainability and coordinated necessary actions to address requirements raised by the village.

The project is being implemented with an allocation of K3.359 million from the Union Government under the 2026-2027 financial year through the joint efforts of engineering staff from the Taunggyi Township Department of Rural Development and local villagers. Upon completion, the project will ensure year-round access to safe drinking and domestic water, as well as adequate water for agricultural and livestock purposes, benefiting 211 households with a population of 903 in Panpun Village. — Cho Than Nyunt (Rural)
