Union Minister for Hotels, Tourism and Culture U Maung Myint attended the 2026 Heilongjiang Culture and Tourism Promotion Conference held in Jixi City, China, on 8 and 9 July to strengthen tourism and cultural cooperation (Pauk-Phaw Friendship) between Myanmar and China.
During the visit, U Maung Myint met Mr Xu Qin, Secretary of the Heilongjiang Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, and discussed expanding cooperation in tourism, culture and youth exchange programmes.
The Union minister highlighted the popularity of Harbin Ice and Snow World among Myanmar travellers and said Myanmar would promote the attraction locally. He also said Myanmar would showcase a national landmark through an ice sculpture at China’s ice festival in January 2027 to further promote friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
The Myanmar delegation also attended the 2026 Heilongjiang Culture and Tourism Promotion Conference and visited major tourist attractions, including Beidahuang Calligraphy Art Gallery, Xingkai Lake, Huran village and ice and snow tourism facilities in Harbin. — MNA/KZL
