PLANS are underway to demolish and auction old departmental buildings inside Aung San Stadium, officials said.
A coordination meeting on the demolition and auction process was held on 26 June at Ruby Hall, National Indoor Stadium (1), Thuwunna, Yangon.
Deputy Minister for Sports U Nyi Nyi, chairman of the Ministry of Sports auction committee, delivered the opening remarks. Officials from the Department of Sports and Physical Education outlined the stadium’s history, location and the condition of the buildings to be demolished.
The meeting also discussed forming working committees and subcommittees to oversee the demolition and auction of old buildings and sports-related structures, as well as the removal of shop stalls within the stadium compound. The deputy minister coordinated the necessary arrangements based on the proposals submitted. — TWA/KZL
