The government is extending an invitation to those involved in various armed groups, including the PDF, to return to the legal fold. Those who do so are being provided with necessary assistance and support.
A total of 376 PDF members – 338 males and 38 females – entered the legal fold yesterday. They were handed over to their parents or guardians at the Yan Aung Myin Hall of the Central Command Headquarters.
At the ceremony, these 376 individuals from different townships of Mandalay and Magway regions were handed over to their parents or guardians, and they presented the arms to the Commander.
The arms included eight MA-1s, two MA-2s, eight MA-3s, two M-22s, one AK-47, one MA-11, two Type 81s, two pistols, 12 homemade guns, 39 magazines, 790 bullets, five grenades three walkie talkies and one binoculars.
The region chief minister presented K120 million for 24 rifles, K4 million for two pistols, K6 million for 12 homemade funs, K1.5 million for five grenades, K600,000 for three walkie talkies, K200,000 for one binocular, K31.4 million for 314returnees without arms with K100,000 each, totalling K166.4 million.
Returnees signed pledges and were handed back to their parents or guardians.
There are still individuals who wish to return to the legal fold. Those who intend to do so are encouraged to promptly contact and report to the nearest Tatmadaw bases or police stations. They will be welcomed and accepted, provided with the necessary assistance and support, and cash rewards for any arms and ammunition.
