WITH 900 amateur Chinlone teams, Mandalay Mahamuni Pagoda’s 98th Waso Chinlone Festival will be celebrated for 45 days, said the pagoda’s trustee board.
The event has been started as from 16 June at the Chinlone stadium of the pagoda, and 900 Chinlone teams from different regions and states have been playing in daily matches.
The Waso Chinlone Festival is a world-famous event that has attracted even foreign Chinlone enthusiasts in the past. From 16 June until 30 July, Chinlone teams will play daily.
It was opened by the pagoda trustee board chair, vice-chair, secretary and the Waso Chinlone Committee patron U Soe Naing at 8:30 am on 16 June. — MT/ZS
