The inspection team from the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission, led by Commission Members U Than Win, U Ohn Khaing, and Daw Sandar, inspected the Thanlyin Youth Training School, which operates under the supervision of the Department of Social Welfare, Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement in Thanlyin Township, Yangon Region, on 16 June 2026.
The team inspected the matters, including whether there were any delays in the judicial process of youths who were receiving care and training at the school, as well as access to healthcare services, provision of food, access to clean drinking water, dormitory arrangements, and the accessibility of Citizenship Scrutiny Cards. Furthermore, the team observed the rehabilitation efforts aimed at fostering the youths’ mental and physical development through behavioural reformation to ensure their successful reintegration into society, as well as access to education and vocational training, the right to contact and reintegration with their family members, and the right to freedom of religion.
The findings and recommendations from the inspection visits will be sent to the relevant department for necessary action under the Commission’s law.
