Tatmadaw makes efforts to regain control of and reopen the Kalay-Tamu Road, an important route for border trade between Myanmar and India.
Tatmadaw columns conducted operations to reopen and secure the Kalay-Tamu route as quickly as possible. Troops advancing near Yanlinpaing Village yesterday reached a location about 2,500 metres northwest of the village near the Myanmar-India border line, where suspicious structures were discovered. Tactical security operations were then carried out, resulting in clashes with terrorists. The columns successfully seized the insurgent base camp, while the terrorists suffered heavy casualties and fled in disarray into the neighbouring country.
They discovered and seized one 10 feet by 10 feet bunker with a guard post, seven residential buildings measuring 20 feet by 15 feet with thatched roofs and bamboo matting walls, three residential buildings measuring 20 feet by 15 feet with corrugated iron roofs and wooden walls, three dormitory buildings measuring 30 feet by 15 feet, one military parade and training ground covering about 400 square feet including a flag platform, one 30-foot by 15-foot iron-roofed wooden building, one 15-foot-square bamboo-walled clinic with tarpaulin roofing, one 12 by 12 feet wooden detention room with tarpaulin roofing, one dining hall measuring 20 feet by 15 feet, one ammunition storage building measuring 15 feet by 20 feet with corrugated iron roofing and wooden walls, one 15-foot by 10-foot generator shed, one tipper truck, one loader vehicle, three small vehicles, one three-wheeled vehicle, two single-shot firearms, five 60 mm grenades, seven walkie-talkies, one large generator and other related equipment.
Tatmadaw columns will continue accelerating regional security operations against terrorist insurgents to regain control of and reopen the Kalay-Tamu corridor. — MNA/KTZH
