The subject-specific subcommittee coordination meeting (preliminary stage) for the selection and awarding of the 2025 National Literary Awards from among books published in 2025 was held on 8 June at the meeting hall of the Sarpay Beikman Office on Merchant Road in Yangon.

During the meeting, committee members of the respective subject selection and screening discussed in detail the progress of the preliminary screening and selection process for books submitted under the designated categories of the 2025 National Literary Awards.

The State annually presents the National Literary Award for Lifetime Achievement and the National Literary Awards in recognition of outstanding achievements, lifelong dedication, and significant contributions to Myanmar literature.

The 2024 National Literary Award for Lifetime Achievement was conferred on literary scholar Dr Daw Po (Ma Lay Po), writer U Than Nyunt (Zin Min–Thamein Htaw), writer Daw Tin Yi (Tin Yi Ma-NyaungU), writer U Ko Ko (Ko– Tekkatho), and literary scholar Dr Khin Than Oo (Ma Moe Myay).

The National Literary Award Selection Committee comprises 20 members, including literary scholars, intellectuals, subject-matter experts, and experienced professionals from the printing and publishing industry. The selection process is conducted systematically in three stages — preliminary screening, shortlisting, and final approval—according to the respective subject categories.
