The Pakokku Thihoshin Pagoda’s Nayon Buddha Pujaniya festival will be held from 23 May in Pakokku, Magway Region, according to the Pakokku Thihoshin Pagoda Trustee Board.
The Buddha Pujaniya festival will be held for 16 days until 7 June, with some stalls already opening.
“During the annual Nayon Buddha Pujaniya festival of the ancient and historical Pakokku Thihoshin, which is held without absence, the festival will be held in a bustling environment with twelve shops’ collective fairs, various performances and entertainment programmes. Some stalls in the fair have already opened for business since 1 May. In addition, children’s play areas and amusement rides, including pirates, will be arranged to keep parents entertained. The San Yay Moe Theatrical Performer Troupe will include a lively entertainment programme from 28 to 31 May and the Kaung Sit Hein Theatrical Performer Troupe from 3 to 7 June,” said U Kyi Toe, a member of the Pagoda Board of Trustees.
The festival, which was established and worshipped by King Alaungsithu of Bagan, is also celebrated with great enthusiasm every year.
