MYANMAR authorities detained 18 Chinese nationals involved in online scam and gambling operations near the Thanlwin River in the vicinity of Lwesaunghtauk Village, Mongshu Township, seizing the equipment used in the gambling operations in the vicinity of Hopong Village in Mongshu Township, Shan State (South), on 15 May.
The combined force investigated to eliminate online gambling along the west of Thanlwin River in Mongshu-Mongsan, Loilem District, Shan State (South), and arrested 18 male Chinese nationals who were illegally residing near the Thanlwin River, about 26 kilometres southeast of Mongshu and about 11 kilometres southeast of Lwesaunghtauk Village on 15 May morning.
Similarly, another combined force conducted inspections along the Thanlwin River bank. At around 11 am, near the western bank of the river, about 26 kilometres east of Mongsan and about nine kilometres east of Hopong village, authorities discovered and seized facilities allegedly used for online scam and gambling operations. These included two destroyed residential buildings with sleeping quarters measuring 100 feet by 30 feet, one business-use tent measuring 100 feet by 30 feet, 30 bamboo huts measuring 10 feet by 10 feet each, and one cooking shelter measuring 10 feet by 10 feet.
The seized items will be managed in line with the procedures, and the offenders will be taken action under the law.
