Under the leadership of the Ministry of Health and the Bago Region Government, healthcare staff led by the medical superintendent of the 500-bed General Hospital in Bago, together with specialist doctors, provided field healthcare services to monks, novices and residents at Nyaungkhashay Station Hospital in Waw Township on the morning of 9 May.

In line with the Department of Medical Services’ policies, teams of specialist doctors and physicians from major urban hospitals have been providing mobile medical services in rural areas to ensure wider healthcare coverage in both urban and rural communities and to help people live longer and healthier lives.

During the programme in Waw Township, specialist doctors in general medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, ear, nose and throat diseases, orthopaedics, dermatology, radiology, and dental and oral health provided medical examinations and treatment to more than 300 patients.

Dr Zaw Min Tun, head of the Bago Region Public Health and Medical Services Department, together with Dr Zaw Lwin, medical superintendent of the 500-bed General Hospital in Bago, the chairman of the Waw Township Administration and Management Committee, the township medical officer and the township public health officer, warmly greeted and encouraged members of the public who came to receive medical treatment. They also observed the specialist doctors conducting examinations and providing treatment in their respective fields, and arranged the necessary support measures.

Similarly, healthcare staff led by the medical superintendent of the Toungoo General Hospital in Bago, together with specialist doctors, provided field healthcare services to residents at Ottwin Township People’s Hospital in Ottwin on the morning of 9 May.

During the programme in Ottwin, specialist doctors in general medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, ear, nose and throat diseases, orthopaedics, dermatology, radiology, and dental and oral health provided medical examinations and treatment to 397 patients, according to Medical Superintendent Dr Kyaw Moe of the Ottwin People’s Hospital. — Tin Soe (Bago)/Khin Khin Mar (IPRD)/KZL #TheGlobalNewLightOfMyanmar
