ON 11 April, embassies from countries including the United States, Germany, Denmark, Canada, and Norway issued New Year wishes for the traditional Myanmar Maha Thingyan festival.
The US Embassy hosted a New Year’s event to capture the spirit of the water festival, with staff personally participating in the making of ‘Mont Lone Yay Paw’, a popular traditional Myanma snack enjoyed during Thingyan. The five nations: the US, Germany, Denmark, Canada, and Norway collectively extended their best wishes to all the Myanmar people for a safe, secure, peaceful, and happy Thingyan period.
