THE Nay Pyi Taw Walking Thingyan festival at the Nay Pyi Taw Square was packed with people on the first day of the 2026 Maha Thingyan Festival yesterday.
The Nay Pyi Taw Walking Thingyan Festival featured various pavilions such as Myanma Thanaka and Laphet (tea leaf), Htamane, ministries concerned, Satuditha (charity food), entertainment and water-spraying pavilions. The famous artistes, singers, artistes from Belarus performed with DJs and music concerts, attracting large crowds of revellers.
Similarly, the pavilions and food donation areas of ministries concerned were also crowded with visitors. During the Maha Thingyan festival days, Yain traditional group dance troupes and renowned artistes will continue to perform daily with popular songs and cultural dances for public enjoyment. The Shwe Than Lwin Group will provide Satuditha (food donations) to visitors attending the Nay Pyi Taw Walking Thingyan.
On the first day of Thingyan, the famous sites in Nay Pyi Taw, such as the Nay Pyi Taw Water Fountain Garden and Nay Pyi Taw Zoological Garden, among others, were crowded with people, and the Maravijaya Buddha Image and other religious sites were also thronged with people doing good deeds.
