Security forces seized a large quantity of drugs and narcotics-related production materials near Wanlone Village, Monghsat Township, Monghsat District, Eastern Shan State, on 24 February.
Acting on intelligence reports of suspected drug production approximately 30 kilometres northwest of Tachilek, a joint team including security personnel conducted a clearance operation. At around 2 pm, authorities discovered and confiscated narcotics and related equipment at a site about 19 kilometres southeast of Mongkhet Town.
Seized items included Promethazine-branded cough syrup, food colouring materials, hundreds of small bottles containing unidentified liquid, sacks of unidentified white powder, opium, a heroin block, white crystalline substances, and a significant number of WY stimulant tablets. Authorities also confiscated suspected WY production powder, weighing scales, a generator, mixers, drying trays, and other related materials.
Officials said experts will conduct detailed examinations of the seized substances. The items will be handed over to relevant departments in accordance with procedures, and destruction will follow according to established regulations. Authorities also stated that investigations are underway to identify and take effective legal action against those involved.
Myanmar continues to cooperate with international and regional partners, including the United Nations and neighbouring countries, in combating drug production and trafficking.
