AS MYANMAR is a developing country, it is especially necessary to carry out research activities across all fields and sectors in order to achieve modern development and advance national interests. Only when every undertaking includes review, research, and innovation can progress and success be attained.
The intellectual creativity and capabilities of researchers constitute a genuine source of strength that can greatly contribute to nation-building and development. For the nation to develop, all fields of the arts and sciences must be strengthened in a balanced manner. Therefore, if all scholars and experts in the arts and sciences work together in cooperation, they will be able to effectively support the development of national interests within a short period of time.
Accordingly, it is necessary to nurture high-quality, research-based, skilled workers for technology, vocational education, and training. Research activities do not come to an end after producing results once; only by building on initial findings and carrying out continuous, stepby-step research can accurate and reliable discoveries be achieved.
Through research outcomes, it is possible to shape and create a better and more complete society. It is widely recognized that countries which invest effectively in research generate the greatest long-term benefits and continue to grow and prosper. Researchers have to strive to project a positive image of their country on the international stage, to contribute actively to various sectors of the State by applying their knowledge and expertise, and to work together in unity to help build a peaceful, modern, and developed nation through the strength of science and technology.
Based on the evidence-based research outcomes that will emerge from the 25th Silver Jubilee Research Conference and Science Festival, the State will be able to implement policies that generate tangible benefits by sector and by region, thereby contributing to national development and national unity.
From an economic perspective as well, science and innovation can benefit the manufacturing sector, create employment opportunities, and support the country’s sustainable economic development. Researchers have to conduct research activities and evaluate the outcomes of research by other researchers without any bias or corruption.
All outcomes of the research process must be reliable for the society of Myanmar so as to serve the interests of the State and the people. On the other hand, relevant authorities need to nurture and support researchers not only from the academic field but from governmental and private organizations to beef up research activities. If so, Myanmar’s research society will have more improvement in the future.
