A total of 7,623 active fertilizer registrations are actively operating on the ground, according to the Fertilizer Committee. The committee held its 45th meeting on 18 September at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation. Deputy Minister Dr Tin Htut for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation instructed officials concerned to facilitate the distribution of fertilizer during the monsoon season under the agriculture project implemented under the State Economic Promotion Fund in the current financial year 2024-2025. He also asked respective officials to carry out lab tests to ensure quality fertilizer for growers.
While retreating farmland with essential agricultural inputs in the damaged farmlands due to various reasons, the region and state task forces are asked to conduct inspections and determine fertilizer ratio depending on soil test, in addition to the mixed use of organic fertilizer and chemical fertilizer and raising awareness to systematically add agricultural inputs to boost productivity and ensure food security.
Officials concerned are also going on a field trip to ensure good yield and soil health, and growers are also required to strictly adhere to plant nutrient management methods to effectively utilize fertilizer.
The fertilizer Committee holds a quarterly meeting and grants permits for fertilizer production and imports under the Fertilizer Law to enhance agricultural outputs and ensure food security.
A total of 12,741 registrations have been granted so far as of the 44th meeting. Yet, some were voluntarily cancelled according to individuals’ consent, and some were revoked due to the expiration of their validity. Thus, only 7,623 registrations are active so far.
