Myanmar Motion Pictures Organization (MMPO) said in a statement that it is aware that some members have engaged in online gambling and illegal commercial advertisements and warned them not to do.
The statement issued on 8 August said MMPO found some members of the movie industry have been involved in online gambling ads that are deemed illegal, but such activities are a violation of the law, leading to potential penalties.
“We see the movie industry members appear in online gambling ads. So, this statement aims to remind and request all our members that these are against the law,” MMPO second joint secretary U Chan Thar Kyi Soe told The Global New Light of Myanmar (GNLM).
This is a warning to all members, but no one has been summoned for this warning, he said.
