GROUPS seeking to establish political parties have been applying to the Union Election Commission (UEC), specifying the names of the parties they intend to form. To date, 27 groups have submitted applications. Among them, the Pa-O National Development Party was found to comply with the Political Parties Registration Law and rules, and the UEC approved its application to establish a political party yesterday.
Having received approval, the Pa-O National Development Party must now apply for official registration as a political party within 30 days, under Article 7 of the Political Parties Registration Regulations. As of today, 22 political parties have been approved to establish.
