The Bharatnatyam Indian Dance Workshop and Graduation Ceremony was held at the National University of Arts and Culture (Yangon). The event was attended by the Indian Ambassador to Myanmar, Mr Abhay Thakur; the Rector of the National University of Arts and Culture (Yangon), Dr Kay Thi Htwe; pro-rectors; officials and students from the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (Yangon); and teachers and students from the Department of Theatrical Arts.
The Indian Ambassador and the Rector of the National University of Arts and Culture (Yangon) delivered speeches at the ceremony.
Afterwards, a student from the Department of Theatrical Arts shared her experiences of the workshop, followed by a performance of the Bharatnatyam Indian dance by students from the Department of Theatrical Arts.
Next, students from the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (Yangon) performed the Saraswati dance. This was followed by a joint Pushpanjali dance by students from both the Department of Theatrical Arts and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre. Students from the Department of Theatrical Arts also performed the Puppet and Human dance. In addition, Indian Dance Master Ms Lanan and Assistant Lecturer Daw Khine Mar Lwin from the Department of Theatrical Arts performed a Myanmar and Tamil Fusion dance. The programme concluded with students from the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre performing the Thingyan dance.
The Indian Ambassador and the Rector exchanged souvenirs, and the Vice-Rector gave a vote of thanks.
