IN the six months from January to June 2025, the Bagan Archaeological Museum has earned more than K22 million from over 18,700 local and foreign visitors, according to an official.
During the six months, the museum had 18,370 domestic visitors and 402 foreign tourists, earning more than K18 million and K4 million respectively.
“Locals outnumber foreigners who usually visit in the cold season from October to February, and make fewer visits in the hot season. 113 foreigners visited in January, and 93 in February,” the official told the GNLM.
During this rainy season, the museum is more crowded on weekends and holidays than on weekdays.
“Now is the time of fewer visitors. Foreigners are only in two digits. Locals are about 50 to 80 on weekdays and more than 100 on weekends. On holidays such as the full moon of Waso, the museum is also closed, so there are no visitors,” he added.
The Bagan Archaeological Museum is open from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm every day except Mondays and public holidays. The museum entrance fee is set at K1,000 per domestic tourist, K10,000 per foreigner, and it is free for children under 12 years old, students who come with a school official letter, and monks.
Despite few visitors in the rainy season as well as school time, it is expected that the number of visitors will be higher during the upcoming open season starting Thadingyut.
