Authorities successfully detained 29 foreign nationals who illegally entered Myanmar via border routes, passing through neighbouring countries including Thailand, and were reportedly involved in online gambling, scams and other criminal activities in the KK Park (Myawady-Maethawtalay), Kayin State.

Among those detained were 26 Chinese nationals, one Indian, one Nepali and one Indonesian. These individuals were discovered during a follow-up inspection and are currently held in custody.

Relevant interdepartmental teams are collaborating to ensure prompt and lawful deportation to their respective countries.

From 30 January to 21 June 2025, a total of 9,170 foreign nationals who illegally entered Myanmar were identified and detained. Of this number, 8,906 individuals were already repatriated via Thailand to their home countries through official procedures, while preparations for the deportation of the remaining 264 foreign nationals are reportedly in the final stages. All detainees are properly safeguarded and held as per legal standards.

The State is actively identifying and arresting those involved in online scam centres, including foreign masterminds and operatives behind such operations. At the same time, officials are coordinating with relevant embassies and agencies to ensure the swift and safe repatriation of foreign nationals who are victims of trafficking or in distress.
