An event to exchange of Letter on MoU Extension for Strengthening of the India-Myanmar Centre for Enhancement of IT Skills (MCEITS) was held on 21 March at the Ministry of Science and Technology.
The ceremony began with Deputy Minister Dr Aung Zeya expressing his gratitude and pride for the extended cooperation between the two neighbouring countries. He highlighted the rapid development in IT advancements and digital transformation, stressing the importance of international collaboration in this field. He emphasized that the cooperation will enhance human resource development, research experience exchange and capacity building in cutting-edge IT technologies such as AI, cybersecurity, big data and cloud computing. This collaboration is expected to contribute to the development and continuous growth of the regional digital ecosystem.
Following that, Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Abhay Thakur delivered a speech, and both the deputy minister and ambassador exchanged the MoU extension documents.
The MoU, which was first signed in 2007, has now been extended for the first time. The India-Myanmar Centre for Enhancement of IT Skills (IMCEITS) training centre will continue its collaboration with India’s Department of Information Technology and Communications Research and Development, and the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) in India. Since 2021, this training centre has been offering AI and big data courses and will continue to introduce further innovative IT training programmes. As of 2024, the training centre has opened 27 training batches, producing 2,873 IT professionals, with a 98 per cent employment rate.
