UNDER the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts to combat the illicit trade continue effectively by the law.
On 29 and 30 October, the combined teams nabbed two boats, travelling from Myeik to Yangon, carrying eight industrial materials and a kind of consumer good worth K327.598 million without official documents at the Thakayta jetty and Shwemae jetty. The action was taken following Customs procedures.
Similarly, on 30 October, the combined teams supervised by the Customs Department conducted inspections, resulting in the seizures of five kinds of industrial materials and two kinds of consumer goods worth K1.086 billion without official documents from 19 containers at the Asia World Port Terminal container checkpoint, a kind of industrial material worth K175.518 million without official document from a container at the Myanmar Industrial Port, two kinds of industrial materials and a kind of foodstuff valued at K79.726 million without official documents at the Thilawa Port Terminal container checkpoint and two vehicles (approximately K100 million), heading to Yangon from Thaton, carrying two kinds of consumer goods worth K10.78 million without official documents at the Ywathagyi Dry Port. The action was carried out according to Customs procedures.

The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported 30 arrests on 29 and 30 October, seizing illegal goods worth approximate K1,839 billion.
