EFFORTS to combat illegal trade, supervised by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, are being carried out effectively in accordance with the law.
On 26 October, combined teams under the management of the Customs Department seized one kind of automobile spare parts (estimated value of K11.5 million) without official documents and one Hino Profia Truck (estimated value of K50 million) which carried that illegal items at Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint. Moreover, they also confiscated a type of industrial materials (estimated value of K 1.99 million) without official documents at Yangon International Airport. Action was taken according to the Customs procedures.
Similarly, a combined team supervised by the Kayin State Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force made inspections at the Yethaya temporary checkpoint and found one Hino Profia Truck (estimated value of K45 million) carrying two kinds of industrial materials and one kind of consumer goods (estimated value of K10 million) without proper documentation. Action was taken under the Customs procedures.
Besides, a team under the management of the Mandalay Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force made inspections at the 16th-mile Kyaukchaw checkpoint. There, they seized 24 kinds of industrial materials without official documents (estimated value of over K50 million) from one Mitsubishi Canter Truck and one Toyota Dyna Truck (estimated value of K5.6 million). Two kinds of foodstuffs (estimated value of K19.4 million) and one Nissan diesel Truck (estimated value of K70 million), seven kinds of consumer goods, one kind of business equipment, two kinds of foodstuffs (estimated value of over K38 million) and three Mitsubishi Pajeros, one Toyota Hiace and one Sein Tun MPV Wagon (estimated value of K138 million) were confiscated at Kywetetson checkpoint and Myitnge checkpoint, respectively. Action was also taken under the Customs Procedures.
Furthermore, a combined team under the supervision of Bago Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force inspected a warehouse in Ward 7 of Bago Township and found 14 kinds of unofficial consumer goods (estimated value of over K2.7 million) and the action was carried out in accordance with the Customs procedures.
Moreover, on 27 October, a combined squad under the management of Sagaing Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force seized one unregistered Toyota Crown (estimated value of K25 million) at Yadanabon bridge combined checkpoint in Sagaing and the action was taken according to the Export-Import Law.
Therefore, on 26 and 27 October, there were 31 arrests with the value of illegal goods seized amounting to approximately K543.37 million, reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
