Under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts to combat the illicit trade are continued effectively by the law.

On 17 July, the combined teams impounded a Forland truck (estimated value of K18 million) carrying illegal 1.722 tonnes worth K123.2 million at the checkpoint in Bokpyin Township, a wooden boat (approximately K23 million) in Kawthoung Township and illegal coal weighing 7.146 tonnes worth K35,733 in Bokpyin Township. The action was conducted under the Myanmar Mines Law, the Myanmar Marine Fisheries Law and the Forest Law.

On 17 and 18 July, the combined on-duty teams seized consumer goods and foodstuffs worth K29.32 million, two trucks (approximately K70 million) carrying foodstuffs worth K18.432 million without official documents at the checkpoint in Thayawady Township and illegal teak weighing 4.572 tonnes, hardwood weighing 0.882 tonne and illegal other timbers weighing 6.149 tonnes in Toungoo, Nyaunglebin and Thayawady districts. The action was taken under the Forest Law and Customs procedures.

Similarly, on 18 July, the combined teams nabbed Mitsubishi Fuso truck (approximately K28 million), heading to Mandalay from Yangon, carrying foodstuffs valued at K19.964 million without official documents at the Myitnge checkpoint, foodstuffs valued at K44.625 million that were smuggled and piled up by the side of road on Maeyan-Sinphyu road in Tachilek Township, foodstuffs valued at K43.86 million that were smuggled and piled up by the side of road on Wailaylan-Malipakaw-Mongkoe road and foodstuffs valued at K42.585 million that were smuggled and piled up by the side of road on Tachilek-Kengtung road. The action was carried out as per Customs procedures.

Moreover, the combined teams confiscated industrial materials worth K115.834 million without official documents from four containers at the Myanmar Industrial Port, industrial materials worth K1.287 billion without official documents from 36 containers at the Asia World Port, industrial materials valued at K1.512 million without official documents at the Yangon International Airport (Warehouse), two trucks (approximately K85 million), travelling from Mawlamyine to Yangon, carrying industrial materials valued at K92.103 million without official documents in Waw Township.

On 18 July, under the management of the Customs Department, a combined team inspected shipments at Asia World Port and seized two categories of undeclared industrial goods from eight containers, estimated at K113.908 million. Legal action is being taken in accordance with customs procedures.

Similarly, on 19 July, task forces in Sagaing Region conducted inspections and seized one category of undocumented foodstuffs worth K7.02 million at the Yadanabon Bridge Checkpoint. In addition, 27 barrels of illegally held diesel fuel (estimated at K17.55 million) were seized near the Chindwin River in Monywa. The total estimated value of seizures in Sagaing Region amounted to K24.57 million, with legal action underway under the Export and Import Law and the Petroleum and Petroleum Products Law.

In Bago Region, a combined team seized 1.024 tonnes of illegal teak worth K0.696 million in Nyaunglebin District, with action being taken under the Forest Law.

Furthermore, according to records from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Myanmar Police Force, inspections on 19 July resulted in the seizure of 16 unregistered vehicles and 59 unregistered motorcycles, which are being processed under the relevant laws and regulations.
The Steering Committee reported 33 arrests on 17 and 19 July, seizing illegal goods worth approximately K2.187 billion.
