UNDER the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts are being made to combat illegal trade continue effectively in accordance with the law.

On 19 September, a combined team under the management of the Customs Department conducted inspections. It seized two commercial items worth approximately K54.646 million at the Asia World Port Terminal container checkpoint and one consumer product valued at approximately K179.48 million at the Yangon International Airport. The action was taken in line with Customs procedures.

On the same day, a combined team under the management of the Bago Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force conducted inspections. It seized a consumer product worth K5.025 million and one Nissan truck worth approximately K30 million at the Nyaungkhashay

x-ray machine checkpoint. On 20 September, the team seized 1.95 tonnes of illegal timbers valued at approximately K262,992 in Toungoo District. The action was taken under the Forest Law and Customs procedures, respectively.

On 20 September, a combined team under the management of the Mandalay Region

Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force seized 14 commercial items and seven consumer goods worth approximately K45.879 million and one Scania Bus worth approximately K70 million at the Kywetetson checkpoint, and the action was conducted as per Customs procedures. On 20 and 21 September, a combined team under the management of the Sagaing Region

Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force conducted inspections. It seized two unregistered vehicles worth approximately K120 million at the Yadanabon checkpoint in Sagaing Township and the action was taken under the Export and Import Law.

The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported that from 29, 20 to 21 September, 11 arrests were made, resulting in the seizure of illegal goods valued at approximately K505.297 million.
