In this effort, 149 Chinese nationals and 48 Kenyan nationals involved in such crimes were deported yesterday to their respective countries.

The Myanmar government is coordinating efforts with neighbouring countries including Thailand to tackle these issues. The 149 Chinese nationals and 48 Kenyan nationals, who were implicated in illegal activities were transferred through the Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge 2 in line with international law and the principles of mutual understanding and cooperation.

They ensured the proper documentation and compliance with the legal procedures for the smooth transfer of these individuals. Officials from the relevant authorities also followed up on necessary checks to ensure all documents were accurate and complete.

Since 30 January 2025, Myanmar authorities have detained a total of 7,870 foreign nationals who entered illegally.
