Cyclonic Storm
According to the observations at 17:30 hours MST today, the Cyclonic Storm “FENGAL” over the southwest Bay of Bengal has moved westwards. It is centred at about 765 nautical miles west of Coco Island (Myanmar), 45 nautical miles south-southeast of Chennai and 40 nautical miles east-northeast of Puducherry (India). The centre pressure of cyclonic storm is 994 hPa and maximum wind speed near the center is 50 miles per hour. It does not intend to move towards Myanmar coasts at the present stage and therefore the Cyclonic Storm “FENGAL” is coded as yellow stage.
Forecast
It is likely to move slowly westwards and may cross north Tamil Nadu coast near Puducherry (India) tonight.
Due to the Cyclonic Storm “FENGAL”, rain are likely to be isolated to scattered in Nay Pyi Taw, Lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon and Ayeyawady regions and Shan, Chin, Rakhine and Kayah states during the next 24 hours.
