MYANMAR participated in the 15th Session of the Assembly of Parties to the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA), held in Vienna, Austria, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The session took place at the Vienna International Centre on 30 October. Ambassador U Aung Kyaw Zan, Chargé d’Affaires of the Myanmar Embassy and Permanent Representative Office in Vienna, attended the meeting and participated in discussions on general policy matters.
In his remarks, Ambassador U Aung Kyaw Zan said that the admission of new member states to IACA reflected growing international recognition of the academy’s important role in combatting corruption worldwide. He also highlighted Myanmar’s interest in IACA’s postgraduate and training programmes. He stressed that capacity-building and technical assistance were particularly important for least developed countries in combating corruption.
He therefore called for expanded scholarship opportunities and free online courses, as well as greater opportunities for young people and anti-corruption officials to participate in IACA programmes.
