THE Chin Harvest Festival, also known as the Chin New Year Festival, a cultural heritage of the Chin people, was celebrated on 24 October at Fellowship Church in Falam Township, Chin State.

Haka Township Administration Committee Chair U Kyaw Win Oo gave an opening speech at the event. Chin harvest festivals are held in October every year in different areas by different Chin languages, and this cultural heritage means an expression of gratitude for prosperity from successful agricultural products and the offering of first-harvest paddy and other crops.

The church’s secretary said young generations will need to preserve cultural heritage passed down from ancestors, and it is important to strengthen friendship and unity in the state.

More than 1,000 residents from 11 Chin communities, including Lazio, Lente, Khualsim, Khualngo, Sim, Tapong, Ngawn, Zahau, Hlawnceu, Zaniat and Tlaisum, attended the event, which featured Chin traditional dances. The festival is a significant event that unites Chin people and reflects their cultural heritage.
