TATMADAW columns have been conducting security operations to drive out and defeat the combined groups of AA terrorists and terrorist insurgents operating under the name of CDF, who have been carrying out terrorist acts around the Laungshe-Hlinedote-Kyindwe route.

The operations are aimed at reopening the route, and Hlinedote Village, located along the route, was recaptured and brought back under control yesterday. Since December 2023, the combined groups of the AA terrorist group and CDF terrorist group have used excessive force to attack security personnel responsible for protecting Kyindwe Town, which is located along a communication route connecting Chin State and Rakhine State. They temporarily gained control of the town and unlawfully committed destructive acts. As a result, locals, including children and elderly people, had to abandon their homes, buildings and belongings and flee to safer areas. While temporarily controlling Kyindwe, terrorists group established temporary defensive positions inside religious buildings, hospitals, clinics, schools and departmental buildings in the town, and carried out explosions and destruction. They broke into the homes and shops of locals who had temporarily fled their homes and forcibly took valuables, foodstuffs and household items.

They also entered and occupied villages along the Kyindwe-Hlinedote-Laungshe communication route and carried out destructive acts, blew up roads and bridges, built fortified defensive positions, planted mines along the route, collected extortion money from vehicles travelling along it, and arrested, tortured and killed innocent travellers. Because of restrictions on cargo vehicles, the flow of goods within the region halted, resulting in excessively high commodity prices. Local ethnic residents have been suffering great hardship in making a living, while regional development and socioeconomic conditions have deteriorated significantly in all aspects.

Therefore, to restore regional stability and peace and enable residents to live and work with security and confidence, Tatmadaw columns have been preparing and assembling the necessary forces in Laungshae to regain control of the Laungshe-Hlinedote-Kyindwe route, which terrorist insurgents had temporarily controlled, as soon as possible. The columns divided into separate units and coordinated their security operations, fighting and defeating the insurgents courageously and daringly despite difficulties, without putting their own lives first and using their bodies as barricades. In these operations, they recaptured Point 610 Hill on 24 September, Rinkae Village on 25 September; Point 934 Hill and Swelwekyin Village on 26 September; Point 1059 Hill on 29 September; Mashwatwi Village on 4 October; Point 1276 Hill on 8 October; and the terrorist insurgents’ camp near Point 1732, about 12,000 metres northeast of Kyindwe, on 20 October.

Yesterday, 21 October, they recaptured and regained control of Hlinedote Village. In their efforts to recapture villages along the route and positions occupied by the combined terrorist insurgent groups, Tatmadaw columns fought fiercely and courageously regardless of their lives. A total of 26 major and minor clashes broke out with the terrorist insurgents. Tatmadaw columns seized 11 bodies, 12 various types of weapons, ammunition and related equipment from the enemy.

Tatmadaw columns are continuing to accelerate the necessary security operations to regain control of and reopen the Laungshe-Hlinedote-Kyindwe communication route as soon as possible, as it is important and greatly contributes to the socioeconomic development of locals and the flow of goods. The repairs to infrastructure, roads and bridges damaged by the acts of terrorists will be carried out as necessary in cooperation with responsible officials from the relevant departments and residents.
