On 19 November 2024, the inspection team, led by U Kyaw Soe, U Tin Aung and U Than Win, Commissioners of the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission (MNHRC), inspected the Centre for Women’s Care and Development (CWCD), Twantay Township, Yangon Region.
The inspection team inspected the Women’s Care and Development Department under the MNHRC law and procedures on whether the women who are detained in the centre can get fundamental rights, including healthcare services, food supply, adequate dormitories, provision of purified drinking water, the support programme for physical and mental development, life safety and right to learn vocational training, basic importance for those who are illiterate read, teaching, right to communicate with their families, right to reintegration, and right to freedom of religion, sustaining social life, incorporating mental strength, receiving care and also inspected the implementation on the recommendation of MNHRC during the previous inspection.
MNHRC will send recommendations on the findings during the inspection to the relevant departments.
