MYANMAR Red Cross Society has opened a free mobile clinic in Sagaing, Sagaing Region, to provide care and treatment to temporarily displaced people and locals who cannot afford or have difficulty going to the hospital, according to the society. “When there are difficulties, it is quite convenient that they open a mobile clinic. I am happy to have the opportunity to help the people of my community to some extent,” said Ko Nyein Chan Oo, a volunteer at the clinic. Ko Nyein Chan Oo, who has been doing charity work based on compassion, sympathy, hobby and volition for 32 years, is a volunteer Red Cross member in Sagaing and was awarded the outstanding Red Cross Award in 2002. “From the time I became a Red Cross member, I saved money out of my pocket to buy methylated spirit, bandages, cotton wool and wound dressing medicines and take care of anyone who gets injured. I feel delighted to care for people like that,” he said. He is now helping at the clinic by taking patient records, measuring blood pressure, diabetes screening, taking body temperatures and checking SPO2. Myanmar Red Cross Society, with the support of the Danish Red Cross Society and Norwegian Red Cross Society, opened a mobile clinic for 1,511 displaced people and provided primary health care.
