President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing, who is on an official visit to Malaysia, was accorded a ceremonial welcome by Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Anwar bin Ibrahim at the Prime Minister’s Office in Kuala Lumpur yesterday morning, followed by a meeting.
On arrival at the Office of the Malaysian Prime Minister, the President was warmly welcomed by the Malaysian Prime Minister. The Guard of Honour saluted the two Heads of State while playing the national anthems of the two countries. The President inspected the Guard of Honour.
The two Heads of State introduced the senior officials from their respective countries.
The two Heads of State then posed for a commemorative photograph at the Prime Minister’s Office, with Malaysia’s iconic Putra Mosque in the background.
The President signed the guest book at the Malaysian Prime Minister’s Office.
At the meeting, they frankly exchanged views on the world’s political landscape, Myanmar’s political progress, bilateral cooperation in defence and security sectors, cooperation in the interests of the State and its citizens, and measures to combatting online scams and gambling, trafficking in persons, eradication of narcotic drugs, and fighting transnational crime.
After the meeting, the President and the Malaysian Prime Minister cordially greeted each other.
