THE Third Pyidaungsu Hluttaw continued the second-day meeting of the third regular session at its building in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.
Lawmakers dis – cussed the topics of renaming the Ministry of Hotels, Tourism and Culture as the Ministry of Culture, Hotels and Tourism, and the announcement of Ordinance 5/2026.
Deputy Minister for Culture, Hotels and Tourism U Aye Tun explained that, as the government has designated the ministry’s role as promoting the development of tourism based on culture, it is appropriate and proper to reorganize and rename the ministry as the Ministry of Culture, Hotels and Tourism, and he sought approval for renaming the ministry.
The Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Speaker sought the approval of the Hluttaw and approved the renaming of the ministry and the release of Ordinance 5/2026.
The Speaker announced the reassignment of Union Minister U Maung Myint for the Ministry of Labour and Union Minister U Khin Maung Soe for the Ministry of Culture, Hotels and Tourism.
The Hluttaw approved the appointment of General Ko Ko Oo from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) for the Ministry of Home Affairs and the release of Ordinance 6/2026.
Moreover, the Speaker sought the Hluttaw’s approval for the appointment of Dr Myo Win Aung and U Saw Myo Myo proposed by the President as Judges of the Supreme Court of the Union.
The lawmakers focused discussions on extension of tax exemption for diesel HDS (500 ppm) and Liquefied Natural Gas. The Speaker put the matter to a vote, and, as the number of votes in favour was higher, announced that the Hluttaw had agreed to it.
Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Ko Ko Lwin explained the Instrument of Ratification for the Agreement on the ASEAN Petroleum Security Agreement Framework, submitted by the President, to enable the framework to enter into force.
Deputy Minister for Finance and Revenue Daw Than Than Lin explained the acquisition of export credit from DBRB and Belinvestbank JSC of the Republic of Belarus, submitted by the President.
Regarding the matter of obtaining a loan from the Central Bank of Myanmar to cover the deficit in the Union Government Deposit Account for the 2026-2027 financial year, submitted by the President, Deputy Minister for Finance and Revenue Daw Than Than Lin and Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar U Thet Tun Aung explained the matter and sought approval from the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw.
The Speaker announced that lawmakers wishing to discuss the proposals may register at the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Office.
The Pyidaungsu Hluttaw will continue its thirdday meeting on 8 October. — News Team/TTA
