MORE than 1.3 million stimulant tablets, valued at K1.31 billion, were seized in North Okkalapa Township, Yangon Region, according to the Myanmar Police Force.
Acting on a tip-off, a combined team, including members of the Anti-Drug Police Force, searched a passenger bus at 3:30 pm on 13 November at the Thiri Yadana bus station compound in North Okkalapa Township. The bus, driven by Hla Min Htun and accompanied by conductor Myint Thu Soe and bus assistant Phyo Kyaw Zaw (also known as) Moe Htet Myint, contained the seized drugs worth K1.31 billion.
The perpetrator admitted that the drugs were being transported from Taunggyi Township, Shan State, to Yangon Region, as arranged by the bus owner, Aung Khaing Htoo, and his wife, Ma Moe Sabei. Police also confiscated two buses, a Kinglong and a Higer, which were purchased with the profits from drug trafficking.
Legal action has been taken against the offender, and an ongoing investigation is underway to apprehend others involved in the case.
